“Let’s Rawk The Web – A Manifesto”
Many tech conference organizers and attendees agree there is a lack of diversity of speakers: both of women and people of color. While some conferences support a proactive diversity policy, the common lament industry-wide is the pool of candidates just isn’t large enough to draw from. However, this is an issue of visibility, not viability. We need to RAWK the web: to become more visible, promote our achievements, and make ourselves known as the rockstars we truly are. Let’s talk about some pointers, practices, and inspiration from those who are rawking the web and learn from their successes and missteps.

Denise Jacobs is a web solutions consultant, writer, speaker, designer, and educator based in Miami, Florida.  She is author of  The CSS Detective Guide, and is a co-author for InterAct with Web Standards: A Holistic Approach to Web Design.

NOTE:  Although this is a female-oriented event, we still love men & want them to come, if they are invited by a woman that is attending or support our initiatives.

Here is the registration link – hope to see you on July 26!

MiamiShared is located at 990 Biscayne Blvd, Office 501, Miami, FL 33132 but the building will say 900 Biscayne. $5 valet parking is available in the BACK (not the side) of this building between NE 9 & NE 10 St. It is the second garage on left side and you will need to pull up very close to it and wait for valet to open the gate (may take him a few minutes).  Please mention you are here for the Girl Geek Dinners event.  Note that the valet only accepts CASH.

I’m a former sales manager for TigerDirect as well as Dell Computer Corp. I’m currently an Event Sales Manage for Lucky Strike Lanes on Southbeach but I still have a little “girl geek” in me! 🙂

I would love to speak with someone about hosting your next Girl Geek event here at Lucky Strike Lanes. Please contact me at your earliest convenience so that we can discuss adding a “twist” to your next networking event! Thank you! Cindi George
